RTS Single-player

RTS games (also known as the Real-Time Strategy games) is a subgenre of strategy video games which doesn’t utilize the turn-based gameplay. In a good RTS games, players are trying to maneuver and position their units and structures to secure specific areas of the map (and/or destroy the assets of their opponents). In a typical RTS, players can create additional units and structures during the game. This is usually limited by a requirement to spend gathered resources. Said resources are gathered via controlling special points on the map and possessing certain types of units and structures which also serve this purpose. All the best RTS games feature base building, resource gathering, technological development and indirect unit control. RTS games are historically one of the most popular genres in competitive gaming. Franchises like StarCraft, Warhammer 40 000: Dawn of War, Age of Empires and Command & Conquer are widely considered the best of all time. In Single-player mode, only one player is expected to participate in every gaming session. The term “Single-player video game” usually refers to a game that can only be played by one person. The “Single-player mode” usually refers to a particular game mode that is designed for one player, though the game also contains other modes (that can be played by several players simultaneously). The majority of modern video games are designed so that they can be played in Single-player. Although many of these games have modes that allow two or more players to have fun, very few require more than one player for the game to be played. A good example is The Unreal Tournament series. Single-player games rely heavily on compelling stories and immersive settings. The point of this is drawing players into the experience and creating a sense of investment. Humans are unpredictable and therefore players cannot be relied upon to carry a narrative in a particular direction. Because of this fact, most multiplayer games try not to focus on a linear narrative. By contrast, many Single-player games are built around a compelling story and interactions with the in-game world.
