Since the early 1990s, Microsoft operating systems and Intel hardware have dominated the PC market. There are alternatives to Microsoft Windows operating system but they still occupy a minority share of the industry. These include Apple's iOS and free open-source operating systems (e.g. Linux and Chrome OS).
Tower Defense games (also known as TD) is a subgenre of strategy video games where the player’s main goal is defending territories or possessions. Players are obstructing enemy attackers by placing defensive structures (towers) along their regular path of attack. This typically means raising a variety of different structures which can be used to block, impede, attack and destroy the attackers. Tower defense is generally seen as a subgenre of RTS video games, due to its real-time origins. That said, many modern tower defense games also include aspects of a turn-based strategy. Strategic choice and careful positioning of towers is the key element of the genre. Fallout is a franchise consisting of eight post-apocalyptic role-playing video games created in 1998 by Interplay Entertainment. All events in the series are set in the 22nd and 23rd century. The first two installments in the series, Fallout (1997) and Fallout 2 (1998), were developed by Black Isle Studios and are considered groundbreaking among the RPG fans. Since the release of Fallout 3 (2008) the franchise took a different approach. Fallout games became first-person shooters (with some RPG elements) set in the open world. It made the gameplay more simple and accessible, a fact that was both praised and criticized by the series’ fans. The most recent installment in the series is Fallout 4, released in late 2015.
