Who doesn’t know what a PC is? Personal Computers are one of the most defining features of our time. Machines that are great for work, for fun and for studying. But what PC really is? Computers were originally invented to “compute” and solve complex mathematical problems. Today, everything is different and their original purpose is actually the least important one. Since the early 1990s, Microsoft operating systems and Intel hardware have dominated the PC market. There are alternatives to Microsoft Windows operating system but they still occupy a minority share of the industry. These include Apple's iOS and free open-source operating systems (e.g. Linux and Chrome OS).
Sandbox is a loose term used to describe the open world video games. In a typical sandbox RPG, players can move freely through a virtual world and are given particular freedom in regard to objective approach - unlike in other RPG games with more linear structure. A sandbox RPG usually lacks the invisible walls and/or loading screens (a common trait of linear level designs) but still has some restrictions in the game environment. Games with a particularly high level of autonomy are typically MMORPGs (e.g. World of Warcraft) and sometimes also classic single-player RPGs (like the Fallout series). The most appealing trait of typical open world games is that they try to simulate reality and allow players to develop many aspects of their gameplay (e.g. character, world, questline, etc.). It should also be noted that sandbox games don’t have a specific goal or pre-defined ending. XCOM is a reboot of the original X-Com, created by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It’s a sci-fi video game franchise featuring an elite international organization tasked with countering alien invasion of Earth. The series began in 1994 with the strategy video game UFO: Enemy Unknown. The original franchise (developed by MicroProse) included six published games and two novelizations. The series achieved a sizable cult following and has influenced many other video games; including the creation of a number of clones, spiritual successors, and unofficial remakes. The XCOM series began in 2012 with the strategy video game XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It was a critical and commercial success, with immediately spawn an expansion, called Enemy Within, as well as a prequel, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. Football Manager (also known as Worldwide Soccer Manager in the US) is a series of football management simulation games created in 1992 by Sports Interactive and published by Sega. The franchise began its life as Championship Manager but after the break-up with the original publishers, Eidos Interactive, Sports Interactive lost the naming rights and rebranded the franchise with their new publishers Sega. That’s how Football Manager was born. Football Manager is a very detailed game and offers many hours of fun. Statistics, marketing, and gathering information about clubs and players are all very important parts of every installment. The game is released annually and is based on the corresponding football season. Fun fact: Football Manager has been recognized by many real-life football clubs as a reliable source for scouting players. For example, an English club, Everton FC, signed a deal with Sports Interactive which allows them to use the in-game database to scout players and other clubs.
