Who doesn’t know what a PC is? Personal Computers are one of the most defining features of our time. Machines that are great for work, for fun and for studying. But what PC really is? The Wiki says it’s a “multi-purpose electronic computer whose size, capabilities and price make it feasible for individual use”. But it gets better: “Personal Computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician”. Computers were originally invented to “compute” and solve complex mathematical problems. Today, everything is different and their original purpose is actually the least important one. Instead, they are used for gathering data (internet), entertainment (video games, movies, music, etc) and work. Since the early 1990s, Microsoft operating systems and Intel hardware have dominated the PC market. There are alternatives to Microsoft Windows operating system but they still occupy a minority share of the industry. These include Apple's iOS and free open-source operating systems (e.g. Linux and Chrome OS).Point-and-click adventure games are a very distinctive genre in which players control their characters through a standard point-and-click interface. Typically, all the player needs is a computer mouse, though additional controls are sometimes supported. In all the best point-and-click games, players have to click on the screen in order to move their characters around, interact with various elements of the world (including NPCs), and examine objects in the game. Point-and-click games often come down to collecting multiple items in the inventory and figuring the right way and time to use them. In order to do that, players have to use clues from the visual elements of the game (e.g. descriptions of certain items, dialogue lines from NPCs, etc.). The most well known point-and-click adventure franchises are Leisure Suit Larry, Gabriel Knight, King’s Quest, Broken Sword, Runaway, Nancy Drew, Sam & Max, Quest for Glory. In Games Republic we have only the best point-and-click games for a PC gamer! Check them out and have fun solving puzzles.Worms is a franchise consisting of video games created by Team17. Worms video games can be described as a mix of artillery and turn-based games. In a typical Worms game, a player controls a small squad of worms and battles other squads (computer- or player-controlled) on a destructible map. During the course of the game, players take time-limited turns controlling one of their worms. Every turn they can use one tool or weapon available to them to attack and kill their opponents' worms, winning the game. Loads of humor, an arsenal of bizarre weapons, and colorful cartoon-style animation are all trademarks of the Worms franchise. The series quickly became popular and was described by the gaming press as a mix of Scorch, Cannon Fodder, and Lemmings. The most popular games in the entire franchise are Worms (1995), Worms 2 (1997), Worms Armageddon (1999), and Worms 3D (2003). Few Worms-themed spin-offs have also been released, including Onlineworms (2001), Worms Blast (2002), and Worms Golf (2004). Nowadays, Worms are published mostly on mobile devices and OS X platform. Funny, engaging and addictive. Worms are one of the best time killers available. Take command over your own team of weapon-crazed worms and fight for domination on a map.Hide
