Who doesn’t know what a PC is? Personal Computers are one of the most defining features of our time. Machines that are great for work, for fun and for studying. But what PC really is? The Wiki says it’s a “multi-purpose electronic computer whose size, capabilities and price make it feasible for individual use”. But it gets better: “Personal Computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician”. Computers were originally invented to “compute” and solve complex mathematical problems. Today, everything is different and their original purpose is actually the least important one. Instead, they are used for gathering data (internet), entertainment (video games, movies, music, etc) and work. Since the early 1990s, Microsoft operating systems and Intel hardware have dominated the PC market. There are alternatives to Microsoft Windows operating system but they still occupy a minority share of the industry. These include Apple's iOS and free open-source operating systems (e.g. Linux and Chrome OS).Construction and management simulation (CMS or management games) is a subgenre of simulation games in which players can build, expand and/or manage fictional buildings, cities or even countries. Typical features of CMS games are limited resources and various economic and environmental factors (pollution, crime, land prices) that have to be taken into consideration. Strategy video games often try to incorporate CMS aspects into their gameplay. Players have to manage their resources while continuously expanding their project. However, unlike most RTS games, the CMS games are not about defeating an opponent but rather about building something functional. The best examples of CMS games are SimCity, Capitalism, Theme Park, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Tropico, and Cities. Build your own city with Games Republic. We have only the best construction simulators for PC!Street Fighter, commonly known as SF (or Suto in Japan), is a fighting video game franchise created and published by Capcom. The second game in the series, Street Fighter II, is widely considered as the one which pioneered the one-on-one fighting genre. The franchise’s main feature is a large number of playable characters, each with a unique fighting style. Street Fighter was immensely successful worldwide and is said to be Capcom's second best-selling franchise to date. It’s also a very old series as the first game was released back in 1987. The best-selling game in the franchise was (Of course!) Street Fighter II, which exceeded $1.5 billion in sales revenue in 1993 (today it would be over $2.65 billion). Interesting fact: Street Fighter was ranked number 10 on the list of the best video game franchises of all time. Street Fighter is the mother of all fighting games. Get its latest installment on Games Republic and immerse yourself in spectacular one-on-one combat.Remember the time when open-world games were a novelty? Well, there is one particular title that contributed more than the most to this aspect of video game mechanics. What game are we talking about? Take a wild guess. Gothic is an action RPG franchise, developed and owned by German studio called Piranha Bytes. However, the latest installment in the spin-off series was developed by Spellbound Entertainment. The Gothic games’ setting is a medieval fantasy world, in which humans are losing the war against the orcish armies. The protagonist, a young nameless man, is forced to work his way up, from being a convict in the penal colony to saving the world from the ancient evil. In order to continue the fight against the countless orcs, demons and the undead, our protagonist has to gather much-needed experience, form alliances, and develop into a real hero of Myrtana. The franchise consists of three main games, two large expansions, and an official spinoff, Arcania. This spinoff, Arcania is set in the same universe and shares many aspects with the original Gothic series. Gothic games were extremely successful and, in many ways, groundbreaking. You should definitely give them a chance!Hide
