With the release of Assassin's Creed II (2009), Ubisoft launched the Uplay network which can be activated either in-game or through the Uplay website. Uplay network allows players to connect with each other and gain various rewards based on in-game achievement system. Uplay is a digital distribution platform created by Ubisoft Entertainment Sweden AB. It offers digital rights management (DRM), many multiplayer options and communications service. It provides an experience similar to the achievements systems offered by other game companies. The service works across multiple platforms (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Wii U, iOS, Windows Phone, Android, Facebook, and more). Uplay is used exclusively by Ubisoft games, and although some third-party titles are sold through the Uplay store, they do not use the platform and don’t share its extensive benefits.Fighting video games belong to a very specific genre that is trying to simulate close-range combat against various opponents. The player controls an on-screen character and engages in close combat with his/her opponent, which can be either controlled by AI or by another player. While ranged and melee weapons may be present in fighting games, they strongly emphasize brutal and spectacular hand-to-hand combat. Fighting games were one of the dominant genres in the 1990s, thanks to the legendary franchises like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, still considered by many as the best titles of all time. Since then, the genre had it’s ups and downs, eventually evolving from 2D to 3D graphics. Other fighting games worth mentioning are Tekken, Guilty Gear, Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter. On Games Republic gamers can find only the best fighting games for PC and consoles. Only top titles and best prices in the business.War. War never changes. Every time you play a Fallout game, those legendary words are coming out of the speakers. Fallout is a franchise consisting of eight post-apocalyptic role-playing video games created in 1998 by Interplay Entertainment. All events in the series are set in the 22nd and 23rd century. It’s a dystopian, retrofuturistic world heavily influenced by the America’s post-war culture (a unique combination of hope, technology, fear, and nuclear annihilation). The Fallout series is said to be a spiritual successor of 1988’s Wasteland. Although the game worlds are different, the story, locations, inhabitants, and characters (both playable and non-playable) draw many parallels. The first two installments in the series, Fallout (1997) and Fallout 2 (1998), were developed by Black Isle Studios and are considered groundbreaking among the RPG fans. Since the release of Fallout 3 (2008) the franchise took a different approach. Fallout games became first-person shooters (with some RPG elements) set in the open world. It made the gameplay more simple and accessible, a fact that was both praised and criticized by the series’ fans. The most recent installment in the series is Fallout 4, released in late 2015. Every RPG fan knows this series. It’s a legendary brand and a must-have for every true gamer. Check out the Fallout games on Games Republic and enter the Wastelands.Hide
