With the release of Assassin's Creed II (2009), Ubisoft launched the Uplay network which can be activated either in-game or through the Uplay website. Uplay network allows players to connect with each other and gain various rewards based on in-game achievement system. Uplay is a digital distribution platform created by Ubisoft Entertainment Sweden AB. It offers digital rights management (DRM), many multiplayer options and communications service. It provides an experience similar to the achievements systems offered by other game companies. The service works across multiple platforms (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Wii U, iOS, Windows Phone, Android, Facebook, and more). Uplay is used exclusively by Ubisoft games, and although some third-party titles are sold through the Uplay store, they do not use the platform and don’t share its extensive benefits.Construction and management simulation (CMS or management games) is a subgenre of simulation games in which players can build, expand and/or manage fictional buildings, cities or even countries. Typical features of CMS games are limited resources and various economic and environmental factors (pollution, crime, land prices) that have to be taken into consideration. Strategy video games often try to incorporate CMS aspects into their gameplay. Players have to manage their resources while continuously expanding their project. However, unlike most RTS games, the CMS games are not about defeating an opponent but rather about building something functional. The best examples of CMS games are SimCity, Capitalism, Theme Park, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Tropico, and Cities. Build your own city with Games Republic. We have only the best construction simulators for PC!Recommended indie gamesWhen people say “FPS”, they usually think about either Doom or Quake. The latter, albeit much younger, was definitely the more “active” on the market which resulted in many installments in the series. It’s one of the most iconic titles in the FPS genre, with millions of loyal fans across the world. Quake is a series of first-person shooters, starting with the game of the same name. In first Quake (released in 1996) players must find their way through various maze-like, dark, medieval environments while battling a variety of monsters using a wide array of weapons. Quake II (1997) and Quake 4 (2005) are equally dark but unlike Quake set in the future where humans are in conflict with a cybernetic race known only as the Strogg. The third installment in the series, Quake III Arena (1999), was a multiplayer-focused FPS and a response to the increasingly popular Unreal Tournament game. Quake games are iconic and even now, after all these years, they can bring a smile on gamer’s face. A title definitely worth trying!Hide
