Mobile apps (with the main software) were released for iOS, Android, and even Windows Phone. Steam is currently the largest digital distribution platform for PC gamers with almost 75% of the market space. It has over 130 million registered accounts (with over 13 million concurrent users). The success of the Steam platform has led to the development of Steam Machine micro-console, as well as SteamOS. Steam’s user-friendly design and frequent sales, only increase its popularity among PC gamersFighting video games belong to a very specific genre that is trying to simulate close-range combat against various opponents. The player controls an on-screen character and engages in close combat with his/her opponent, which can be either controlled by AI or by another player. While ranged and melee weapons may be present in fighting games, they strongly emphasize brutal and spectacular hand-to-hand combat. Fighting games were one of the dominant genres in the 1990s, thanks to the legendary franchises like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, still considered by many as the best titles of all time. Since then, the genre had it’s ups and downs, eventually evolving from 2D to 3D graphics. Other fighting games worth mentioning are Tekken, Guilty Gear, Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter. On Games Republic gamers can find only the best fighting games for PC and consoles. Only top titles and best prices in the business.Recommended indie gamesWhen people say “FPS”, they usually think about either Doom or Quake. The latter, albeit much younger, was definitely the more “active” on the market which resulted in many installments in the series. It’s one of the most iconic titles in the FPS genre, with millions of loyal fans across the world. Quake is a series of first-person shooters, starting with the game of the same name. In first Quake (released in 1996) players must find their way through various maze-like, dark, medieval environments while battling a variety of monsters using a wide array of weapons. Quake II (1997) and Quake 4 (2005) are equally dark but unlike Quake set in the future where humans are in conflict with a cybernetic race known only as the Strogg. The third installment in the series, Quake III Arena (1999), was a multiplayer-focused FPS and a response to the increasingly popular Unreal Tournament game. Quake games are iconic and even now, after all these years, they can bring a smile on gamer’s face. A title definitely worth trying!Hide
