Steam is a digital distribution platform created by Valve Corporation. It offers digital rights management (DRM), multiplayer gaming, social networking services, and even video stream function. Steam provides its users with installation and automatic updates of games on multiple computers, as well as various community features. Said features include: friends lists, groups, cloud saving, and in-game voice and chat. Though initially developed for use on Microsoft Windows, versions for OS X and Linux were later released. Steam is currently the largest digital distribution platform for PC gamers with almost 75% of the market space. It has over 130 million registered accounts (with over 13 million concurrent users).
