Point-and-click adventure games are a very distinctive genre in which players control their characters through a standard point-and-click interface. Typically, all the player needs is a computer mouse, though additional controls are sometimes supported. In all the best point-and-click games, players have to click on the screen in order to move their characters around, interact with various elements of the world (including NPCs), and examine objects in the game. Point-and-click games often come down to collecting multiple items in the inventory and figuring the right way and time to use them. In order to do that, players have to use clues from the visual elements of the game (e.g. descriptions of certain items, dialogue lines from NPCs, etc.). The most well known point-and-click adventure franchises are Leisure Suit Larry, Gabriel Knight, King’s Quest, Broken Sword, Runaway, Nancy Drew, Sam & Max, Quest for Glory.
