TBS (Turn-Base Strategy) game is a subgenre of strategy video games where players take their turns when playing. This is completely different from real-time strategy (RTS) where all players play the same game simultaneously. Turn based strategy is ideal for gamers with low APM (Action-Per-Minute rate) and more casual approach towards gaming. The first TBS video games were actually converted from historic board games. XCOM is a reboot of the original X-Com, created by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It’s a sci-fi video game franchise featuring an elite international organization tasked with countering alien invasion of Earth. The series began in 1994 with the strategy video game UFO: Enemy Unknown. The original franchise (developed by MicroProse) included six published games and two novelizations. The series achieved a sizable cult following and has influenced many other video games; including the creation of a number of clones, spiritual successors, and unofficial remakes. The XCOM series began in 2012 with the strategy video game XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It was a critical and commercial success, with immediately spawn an expansion, called Enemy Within, as well as a prequel, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. Tom Clancy's is a legendary franchise used by Ubisoft for many of their video games. It was originally created to brand video games, based on Tom Clancy’s works but today it’s a very renown franchise on its own. TC’s games are renown for their accurate approach to military tactics and strategy, as well as a decent level of realism. One can say, the Tom Clancy’s franchise has gone from strength to strength in video game form, spawning several established franchises that include FPS games, flight sims, strategy games, stealth games, and even some turn-based battles. There are currently more than 30 games with “Tom Clancy’s” in their title (Rainbow Six series, Splinter Cell series, and Ghost Recon series).
