Tower Defense games (also known as TD) is a subgenre of strategy video games where the player’s main goal is defending territories or possessions. Players are obstructing enemy attackers by placing defensive structures (towers) along their regular path of attack. This typically means raising a variety of different structures which can be used to block, impede, attack and destroy the attackers. Tower defense is generally seen as a subgenre of RTS video games, due to its real-time origins. That said, many modern tower defense games also include aspects of a turn-based strategy. Strategic choice and careful positioning of towers is the key element of the genre. Red Faction is a series of shooter video games created by Volition and currently owned by THQ Nordic. Since the introduction of the first Red Faction game in 2001, the franchise was released on multiple platforms (PC, PlayStation, GameCube, and Xbox).
