Point-and-click adventure games are a very distinctive genre in which players control their characters through a standard point-and-click interface. Typically, all the player needs is a computer mouse, though additional controls are sometimes supported. In all the best point-and-click games, players have to click on the screen in order to move their characters around, interact with various elements of the world (including NPCs), and examine objects in the game. Point-and-click games often come down to collecting multiple items in the inventory and figuring the right way and time to use them. In order to do that, players have to use clues from the visual elements of the game (e.g. descriptions of certain items, dialogue lines from NPCs, etc.). In Single Player mode, only one player is expected to participate in every gaming session. The term “Single Player video game” usually refers to a game that can only be played by one person. The “Single Player mode” usually refers to a particular game mode that is designed for one player, though the game also contains other modes (that can be played by several players simultaneously). Humans are unpredictable and therefore players cannot be relied upon to carry a narrative in a particular direction. Because of this fact, most multiplayer games try not to focus on a linear narrative. By contrast, many Single Player games are built around a compelling story and interactions with the in-game world.
Warhammer 40,000 (also known as Warhammer 40K or just 40K) is a franchise created by Games Workshop, set in a dystopian sci-fi universe. Warhammer 40,000 was created by in 1987 as the futuristic equivalent to Warhammer Fantasy franchise, sharing many game mechanics. Created as a series of tabletop games, Warhammer 40,000 quickly evolved and spun into other media. Books, comics, and video games set in the 40K universe are numerous just like their fans. Dystopian, gritty and extremely brutal, Warhammer games are set in the war-torn future where humans (known as The Empire Of Man) fight various races and powers for galactic dominance. During the last 25 years, a multitude of video games from various genres was created under the Warhammer 40,000 brand. Real-time strategy games, turn-based strategy games, action adventure games, first-person shooters, third-person shooters, and even card games. The most notable title is definitely Dawn of War (as well as its sequel, Dawn of War II). The franchise is extremely successful and has a large group of diehard fans. XCOM is a reboot of the original X-Com, created by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It’s a sci-fi video game franchise featuring an elite international organization tasked with countering alien invasion of Earth. The series began in 1994 with the strategy video game UFO: Enemy Unknown. The original franchise (developed by MicroProse) included six published games and two novelizations. The series achieved a sizable cult following and has influenced many other video games; including the creation of a number of clones, spiritual successors, and unofficial remakes. The XCOM series began in 2012 with the strategy video game XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It was a critical and commercial success, with immediately spawn an expansion, called Enemy Within, as well as a prequel, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
