Their main mechanic focuses around maneuvering an avatar to jump between platforms and over different obstacles to progress in the game. Jumps, attacks and all other movements are controlled by the player. Platform games were developed in the early 1980s but popularized in the mid-1990s. The term “platform games” describes titles in which jumping on platforms is considered an integral part of the gameplay. It was established no later than in 1983. Max Payne is a video game franchise created by Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Studios. It is named after the game’s protagonist, Max Payne, a detective who became a vigilante after the murder of his entire family. There was also a movie adaptation, loosely based on the original game, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. The movie came out in 2008. Tekken is a video game franchise created, developed, and published by Namco Bandai. All Tekken titles focus on a series of fighting games but the franchise has also been adapted into other media (e.g. movies). The story revolves mainly around the Mishima clan and a long-lasting conflict between Heihachi Mishima and his son, Kazuya Mishima. There are currently six main installments to the series - each one of them focusing on the events of the King of Iron Fist Tournament. After beating the game, an ending cutscene is unlocked (one for every character). Tekken 2 and Tekken 3 were truly breakthrough titles and are considered among the best fighting games of all time (Tekken 3 is actually the second best selling fighting game to date). The series itself is the best selling fighting game franchise in the history of gaming. Interesting fact: Tekken was one of the first fighting games which utilized the 3D animation.
