It was a huge hit and quickly spun into the other media. All games in the series (BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite) are set in various dystopian cities/communities and the games’ protagonist has to fight against all odds to survive. BioShock includes elements of aforementioned FPS, survival horrors, and even role-playing games, giving the player different approaches in engaging enemies and various obstacles. The BioShock games were often praised for their disturbing, morality-based storylines, immersive environments, and unique settings, and are all considered to be some of the greatest video games of all time. Dishonored is a stealth action-adventure video game franchise, created in 2012 by Arkane Studios and published worldwide by Bethesda. Set in the fictional, industrial city of Dunwall, Dishonored games follow the story of Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin (an optional protagonist in Dishonored 2). Dishonored’s unique steampunk style and well-executed mechanics resulted in franchise’s massive success. Both Dishonored games are played from a first-person perspective and allow players to undertake many assassination and infiltration missions, with a heavy emphasis on player’s choice. Objectives can be completed through stealth, purposeful combat, or a mix of both. Exploring levels opens new paths and alternatives for accomplishing mission goals. Players can complete all missions by killing their targets or eliminating them in a non-lethal manner. The story and missions are changed in response to the players’ violent actions and/or lack thereof. Dishonored games are one of the best, highly praised titles in the last few years.
