Action Role-Playing video games (also known as RPG or ARPG) are a subgenre of role-playing video games that tend to focus on action and fighting instead of level progressing and planning. Action RPG often incorporates various elements from action games and even from action-adventure games. Big part of this genre are also so-called “Diablo clones” or hack & slash games. The typical action RPG focuses mainly on combat, at the cost of simplifying (or removing) all non-combat attributes and statistics. Additionally, combat always takes place in the real-time system and relies on the player's ability to perform particular actions with optimal speed and accuracy. All top action RPGs tend to focus more on the collection of randomized treasure (or loot) than story progression that is found in other types of role-playing games. Every PC gamer will find the best Action RPGs on Games Republic. Only top titles! In Single Player mode, only one player is expected to participate in every gaming session. The term “Single Player video game” usually refers to a game that can only be played by one person. The “Single Player mode” usually refers to a particular game mode that is designed for one player, though the game also contains other modes (that can be played by several players simultaneously). The majority of modern video games are designed so that they can be played in Single Player. Although many of these games have modes that allow two or more players to have fun, very few require more than one player for the game to be played. A good example is The Unreal Tournament series. Single Player games rely heavily on compelling stories and immersive settings. The point of this is drawing players into the experience and creating a sense of investment. Humans are unpredictable and therefore players cannot be relied upon to carry a narrative in a particular direction. Because of this fact, most multiplayer games try not to focus on a linear narrative. By contrast, many Single Player games are built around a compelling story and interactions with the in-game world. One of the most successful, most well-made horror series of all time. The franchise that basically gave birth to the zombie-apocalypse genre in video games. What are we talking about? The answer can be only one: Resident Evil! Resident Evil (also known as Biohazard in Japan), is a survival horror video game franchise created by Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara and owned by Capcom. The franchise revolves mostly around a series of survival horror video games but has also spawned numerous movies, comic books, novelizations, sound dramas, and even action figures. The series' plot focuses on multiple characters and their role in recurring outbreaks of zombies and other horrible monsters. These events are triggered by the release of the infamous T-virus (and other biological weapons) created by the fictional Umbrella Corporation. The first Resident Evil game was released in early 1996 as a survival horror, but the franchise has since grown to encompass also other video game genres. Today, it’s a fusion of action-adventure, TPP, and horror-inspired plotlines but also employs some level exploration and simple puzzle solving. The entire series has sold over 75 million units worldwide and is considered Capcom's biggest franchise to date. Resident Evil is probably the best horror game series of all time. Since the introduction of the first Red Faction game in 2001, the franchise was released on multiple platforms (PC, PlayStation, GameCube, and Xbox). The Red Faction series has been heavy on its thematic undertones throughout the games (one of the more outstanding themes was a revolutionary socialist undertone). From the miners rebellion featured in Red Faction and Red Faction: Guerrilla (2009) to the overthrown monarchy of Red Faction II (2002), this has been a central theme since the franchise’s inception. Red Faction series has had three distinct styles of gameplay over the years. The first is a traditional FPS element (used by the first two games in the series), while the second is a TPS style of open world gameplay (Red Faction: Guerrilla) and a third person style of corridor shooter used in Red Faction: Armageddon. All games share one common element which is the series' unique environmental destruction system. This system (based on a Geo-Mod engine) was the most proficient in Red Faction: Guerrilla where the game's entire environment was completely destructible. The series has received many positive reviews, with the original Red Faction and third installment (Red Faction: Guerrilla) getting the most acclaim. Red Faction is one of the most iconic franchises and features many ground-breaking gameplay elements. It’s atmospheric, gritty and has a meaningful message. You should definitely give it a go!Hide
