The Elder Scrolls (or TES) is a big franchise consisting of open-world action RPGs developed and published by Bethesda. The series is known for its focus on free gameplay and highly detailed open worlds. The last three installments of TES (Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim) won Game of the Year awards. The entire series has sold over 42 million copies worldwide. The Elder Scrolls are typical role-playing games, although they often include various elements from action and even adventure games. Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim are all focused on creating and developing a playable character. Every TES game has a skill system and the more a certain skill is leveled, the more it helps to level the character. The world itself can be described as one of high fantasy with multiple influences from different cultures. Many races exist in the world of The Elder Scrolls, both typical for high fantasy (humans, orcs, and elves) and new (lizard-like Argonians, who are lizard-like and cat-like Khajiit). There is also magic, mythical creatures (dragons), various powerful factions (Mages Guild, Dark Brotherhood, etc.), cities, strongholds, and plot elements driven by legends and prophecies. The Elder Scrolls is one of the best RPG series of all time. Get your own copy on Games Republic!
Mafia is a series of action-adventure video games developed by the 2K studio. They are set in fictional cities modeled after America’s most prominent urban sites. The games’ historical setting starts from Great Depression-era Lost Heaven (Mafia), and Empire Bay (Mafia II) to 1960s New Bordeaux (Mafia III). All Mafia games offer the players a big open world where they can choose various missions to progress an overall story and engage in numerous side activities. Every single game in the Mafia series focuses on a different protagonist who usually attempts to rise through the ranks of the city’s criminal underworld. Although their actions usually result in them falling out of favor, their motives are different in each installment. Mafia games are renown for being immersive and accurate in their portrayal of American history. This, combined with an open world and great soundtrack, was enough to place the franchise among the best of its genre. If you like games like GTA and Watchdogs, Mafia is definitely a game for you. Feel how it’s like to be a real American gangster!
Street Fighter, commonly known as SF (or Suto in Japan), is a fighting video game franchise created and published by Capcom. The second game in the series, Street Fighter II, is widely considered as the one which pioneered the one-on-one fighting genre. The franchise’s main feature is a large number of playable characters, each with a unique fighting style. Street Fighter was immensely successful worldwide and is said to be Capcom's second best-selling franchise to date. It’s also a very old series as the first game was released back in 1987. The best-selling game in the franchise was (Of course!) Street Fighter II, which exceeded $1.5 billion in sales revenue in 1993 (today it would be over $2.65 billion). Interesting fact: Street Fighter was ranked number 10 on the list of the best video game franchises of all time. Street Fighter is the mother of all fighting games. Get its latest installment on Games Republic and immerse yourself in spectacular one-on-one combat.
