Far Cry is a renown franchise of FPS video games. The first game, titled Far Cry, was developed by Crytek and published by Ubisoft in early 2004. The game revolutionized the approach to modern FPS games and received many positive reviews (as well as praise from the gaming community). The original game has been followed by three sequels: Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and Far Cry 4 and spawned various spin-offs, most notably Far Cry Instincts and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. There was even a Far Cry movie (based loosely on the first game), released in 2008 but it couldn’t match the level of video games. All games in Far Cry franchise are known for their exotic open-world environments (Micronesia, the Himalayas, Africa) and are not tied to each other. The former feature is one of the series’ trademarks and the main reason behind a large number of awards. Every Far Cry game includes a map editing program that allows players to create and share their own unique maps for multiplayer use. Who doesn’t know Far Cry? Dishonored is a stealth action-adventure video game franchise, created in 2012 by Arkane Studios and published worldwide by Bethesda. Set in the fictional, industrial city of Dunwall, Dishonored games follow the story of Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin (an optional protagonist in Dishonored 2). Dishonored’s unique steampunk style and well-executed mechanics resulted in franchise’s massive success. Both Dishonored games are played from a first-person perspective and allow players to undertake many assassination and infiltration missions, with a heavy emphasis on player’s choice. Objectives can be completed through stealth, purposeful combat, or a mix of both. Exploring levels opens new paths and alternatives for accomplishing mission goals. Players can complete all missions by killing their targets or eliminating them in a non-lethal manner. The story and missions are changed in response to the players’ violent actions and/or lack thereof. Dishonored games are one of the best, highly praised titles in the last few years. Their beautiful visuals and unique style make them a real jewel among modern FPS games. A must-have for every gamer!
