Sid Meier’s Civilization (also known as Civ) is a series consisting of several turn-based strategy video games. Sid Meier developed the first game in the series in 1991 (and oversaw most of the sequels) Because of that, his name is included in the formal title of most Civ games. There have since been six main installments in the series, as well as a number of expansion packs, spin-off games, and even board games. The series is considered a prime example of the “4X” genre, in which players can achieve victory through four main routes. These routes are eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate, respectively. All of the Civilization games share similar gameplay focused on building a civilization - from prehistoric times to the near future (and sometimes even beyond that point). Civilization uses historical aspects from the development of mankind. On each turn, players can oversee their government and choose which technological, cultural, and civil routes their civilization should focus on. Other important aspects of the gameplay are diplomacy and war. It should be noted that Civilization is one of the most successful strategy franchises with over 40 million units sold worldwide. One of the best turn-based strategy games of all time. Advance your civilization, build your empire and achieve the decisive victory over your opponents!Red Faction is a series of shooter video games created by Volition and currently owned by THQ Nordic. Since the introduction of the first Red Faction game in 2001, the franchise was released on multiple platforms (PC, PlayStation, GameCube, and Xbox). The Red Faction series has been heavy on its thematic undertones throughout the games (one of the more outstanding themes was a revolutionary socialist undertone). From the miners rebellion featured in Red Faction and Red Faction: Guerrilla (2009) to the overthrown monarchy of Red Faction II (2002), this has been a central theme since the franchise’s inception. Red Faction series has had three distinct styles of gameplay over the years. The first is a traditional FPS element (used by the first two games in the series), while the second is a TPS style of open world gameplay (Red Faction: Guerrilla) and a third person style of corridor shooter used in Red Faction: Armageddon. All games share one common element which is the series' unique environmental destruction system. This system (based on a Geo-Mod engine) was the most proficient in Red Faction: Guerrilla where the game's entire environment was completely destructible. The series has received many positive reviews, with the original Red Faction and third installment (Red Faction: Guerrilla) getting the most acclaim. Red Faction is one of the most iconic franchises and features many ground-breaking gameplay elements. It’s atmospheric, gritty and has a meaningful message. You should definitely give it a go!Hide
