With the release of Assassin's Creed II (2009), Ubisoft launched the Uplay network which can be activated either in-game or through the Uplay website. Uplay network allows players to connect with each other and gain various rewards based on in-game achievement system. Uplay is a digital distribution platform created by Ubisoft Entertainment Sweden AB. It offers digital rights management (DRM), many multiplayer options and communications service. It provides an experience similar to the achievements systems offered by other game companies. The service works across multiple platforms (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Wii U, iOS, Windows Phone, Android, Facebook, and more). Uplay is used exclusively by Ubisoft games, and although some third-party titles are sold through the Uplay store, they do not use the platform and don’t share its extensive benefits.

Devil May Cry (also known as DMC)is a video game series created by Hideki Kamiya and Capcom. Originally created as a Resident Evil’s sequel, it was so different in style and mechanics that it was developed into a completely new game. The series focuses on the main character Dante and his goal of avenging his mother's murder. The gameplay consists of multiple combat scenes in which players have to extend long chains of attacks and avoid taking damage. The series is very loosely based on the Divine Comedy poem by the use of numerous allusions (including the game's protagonist, named after Dante Alighieri). The gameplay of Devil May Cry games focuses primarily on fast-paced combat, puzzle-solving, and exploration (the latter are retained from DMC’s survival horror origins). They are downplayed however as Devil May Cry games focus mostly on action. The Devil May Cry series has been a massive hit, with the first three games selling millions of copies worldwide. This success has led to the creation of novelizations, comic book series, an animated series, and even a line of action figures.
