Real-time tactics (also known as RTT) is a subgenre of tactical war video games played in real-time. These games are simulating the circumstances of operational warfare and various military tactics. RTT is differentiated from real-time strategy gameplay by the lack of resource management and base or unit building. Instead, it focuses on the importance of individual units and battlefield tactics. Unlike the typical RPG video games, RTT titles don’t have resource-gathering, production, or economic management elements in them. Instead, they focus on tactical and operational aspects of war such as the use of terrain for tactical advantage or unit formations. In RTT games players usually have to complete their tasks by using only the forces provided to them, and by the provision of a realistic representation of military tactics. Max Payne is a video game franchise created by Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Studios. It is named after the game’s protagonist, Max Payne, a detective who became a vigilante after the murder of his entire family. The series' first (2001) and second (2003) installments were written by Sam Lake and Max Payne 3 (2012) by Dan Houser. There was also a movie adaptation, loosely based on the original game, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. The movie came out in 2008.
