Warhammer 40,000 was created by in 1987 as the futuristic equivalent to Warhammer Fantasy franchise, sharing many game mechanics. Created as a series of tabletop games, Warhammer 40,000 quickly evolved and spun into other media. Books, comics, and video games set in the 40K universe are numerous just like their fans. The franchise consists of three main games, two large expansions, and an official spinoff, Arcania. This spinoff, Arcania is set in the same universe and shares many aspects with the original Gothic series. Gothic games were extremely successful and, in many ways, groundbreaking.
