The Elder Scrolls (or TES) is a big franchise consisting of open-world action RPGs developed and published by Bethesda. The series is known for its focus on free gameplay and highly detailed open worlds. The last three installments of TES (Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim) won Game of the Year awards. The entire series has sold over 42 million copies worldwide. The Elder Scrolls are typical role-playing games, although they often include various elements from action and even adventure games. Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim are all focused on creating and developing a playable character. Every TES game has a skill system and the more a certain skill is leveled, the more it helps to level the character. The world itself can be described as one of high fantasy with multiple influences from different cultures. Many races exist in the world of The Elder Scrolls, both typical for high fantasy (humans, orcs, and elves) and new (lizard-like Argonians, who are lizard-like and cat-like Khajiit). There is also magic, mythical creatures (dragons), various powerful factions (Mages Guild, Dark Brotherhood, etc.), cities, strongholds, and plot elements driven by legends and prophecies. Tom Clancy's is a legendary franchise used by Ubisoft for many of their video games. It was originally created to brand video games, based on Tom Clancy’s works but today it’s a very renown franchise on its own. TC’s games are renown for their accurate approach to military tactics and strategy, as well as a decent level of realism. One can say, the Tom Clancy’s franchise has gone from strength to strength in video game form, spawning several established franchises that include FPS games, flight sims, strategy games, stealth games, and even some turn-based battles. There are currently more than 30 games with “Tom Clancy’s” in their title (Rainbow Six series, Splinter Cell series, and Ghost Recon series). If you like squad-based tactics, stealth and gritty, military theme, Tom Clancy’s games are definitely for you. It’s one of the most successful and positively acclaimed video game franchises of all time.
Bayonetta is a series of TPP action games created by PlatinumGames. Its first installment was originally released in 2009 (Japan) and 2010 (North America and Europe). Originally it was a PlayStation-only title but in 2014 the game was also released on the Wii U alongside its sequel, Bayonetta 2. Bayonetta’s port for Microsoft Windows was released in April 2017. Bayonetta takes place in Vigrid, a fictional European city. The games’ protagonist (and titular character) is a witch, capable of shapeshifting and proficient in using various weapons. She can also summon demons and use multiple magical attacks. Bayonetta features a great combat system, very is similar to the Devil May Cry series. Both games received very good reviews and were praised for their combat mechanics and soundtrack. The first Bayonetta game sold over 1.5 million units worldwide and was awarded and nominated for several end-of-the-year accolades. Fun fact: An anime adaptation, titled Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, was released in 2013. If you like non-stop action and fluid combat mechanics, Bayonetta games are the perfect pick for you. Both installments ooze with fun and fast-paced action scenes. It’s a must-have for every gamer!
