Devil May Cry (also known as DMC)is a video game series created by Hideki Kamiya and Capcom. Originally created as a Resident Evil’s sequel, it was so different in style and mechanics that it was developed into a completely new game. The series focuses on the main character Dante and his goal of avenging his mother's murder. The gameplay consists of multiple combat scenes in which players have to extend long chains of attacks and avoid taking damage. The series is very loosely based on the Divine Comedy poem by the use of numerous allusions (including the game's protagonist, named after Dante Alighieri).
