The series is known for its focus on free gameplay and highly detailed open worlds. The last three installments of TES (Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim) won Game of the Year awards. XCOM is a reboot of the original X-Com, created by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. The XCOM series began in 2012 with the strategy video game XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
